I was at FMX and Stuttgart International Trickfilm Festival the week before last week. That was really really cool, there was just so much to see and so many people to talk to.
One of the most exciting presentations I was at was about hand drawn special effects animation by a guy who used to work at Disney. I even bought his book afterwards and got him to sign it... just because. So I've been drawing abstract shapes a lot recently.

And at the film festival I saw this amazing short.

Bachelor project blues

Not really blues, more like stress...
Right now I am working on my bachelor project and things are pretty hectic, I have to paint at least two background painting a day and don't have much free time.
I know this is no excuse for not updating my blog, but I barely get drawn other than for this project, and what I do draw is just scribbles and exercises that aren't worth showing anyone.
In my previous post I talked about starting a side project, but all the thing I could come up with that were worth doing are big to make while working on my bachelor project, so I put it on hold.
>:(

Anyways here are a few of the background paitings I've made so far:

A friend of mine suggested that if I was stuck in a certain pattern with what I draw I should make a project where I use those things and keep doing it until I grow tired of it, like hearing a song that's stuck in your head over and over again until it looses all consistency.
And if it doesn't throw me out of the pattern at least what I do would turn into something and evolve instead of just being the same again and again.

Well it made sense to me and I'll give it a try, so soon there'll come some continuous thing from my side with lots of girls and monsters! yeah! >:(

Collaboration

~
old version:
This is a collaboration between Martín Vallespir and myself.
She started as a black blop in photoshop and we just expanded from there, this was a really fun painting to paint.
Photoshop would make a great party game, just take turns at painting and every time you hit undo you have to take a drink.

Sketches

These are just some various sketches I made last week, when I had winter break. I saw a few Shaw brothers film so I've been drawing kung-fu! But you don't get to see most of that.
